How to start peels?

Fairly new esthetician 6/11. I have been busy getting my regular facials under my belt and need to learn how to incorporate peels into my menu. I am so bummed I missed the webinar because I was really hoping to learn more about them. Do most estheticians offer "peel" facials or as an add on to any facial? Any suggestions on getting started?

Robin, if you are an ASCP member you can watch the webinar any time. Peels are a huge part of my business. I offer them as a stand alone treatment, with a facial or with microdermabrasion. Figure out your pricing for one alone and encourage a series as the results are better and then figure out a price for adding them into a facial or with micro if you offer it. Good luck!

You're welcome. Just go to the ASCP web site and they post all the webinars there. Sometimes it's not right away but it will eventually be there.

Robin:

Here are a few ideas if you are new to chemical peels:

1) Once you are comfortable with the enzymes alone, and decide you want them a bit stronger, you could add 1/2 pump of 20% lactic or 30% glycolic to your enzymes. Ensure you tell your clients that you are added a boost of peel and that they may be flakey in the next few days.

2) As a starter, you can offer 20% lactic peels or 30% glycolic peels to your menu. These are 15 minute treatments with minimal to no downtime or flaking. They are great starter peels to get your feet wet in the chemical peel area.
