Hello all! I have a female client who has facial hair under her chin as does a male and she shaves but is thinking about waxing the area.  Do you think it would be ok for me to hard/soft wax her "beard" or is that something I should refrain from.?!?!?

Hi Cimberly,

I have easily waxed a womans facial hair on the chin area.  Some of which had previously shaved.  It does need to have some outgrowth so the wax adheres to the hair.  Ask her is she has had facial waxing in the past and if so, if she had any sensitivity. Some estheticians prefer hard wax with the thought that there is less sensitivity.  Personally, I like the azulene soft wax and a strip. Easily removed and it is also appropriate for sensitive skin. The chin area will most likely be a little red when completed but some lavender or tea tree oil is a soothing application after the service.

Hey Sandy!! Thank you for your response!

Hi Cimberly

I agree with Sandy.  The hard wax works well too.  Yes. make sure her hair has grow out enough for the wax to adhere too.  ;0)

Use hard wax first time to be sure. The hair should be let to grow for a week before, at least 1 cm (1/5 inch).

Have done very successfully with hard wax, but if there is a significant amount of under chin hair I would suggest laser might be something to look into. I had a young lady who benefited from having laser to deal with this condition.

Girl do it.

Hard wax definitely!

Honestly... I would suggest her to see an endocrinologist because the beard will keep coming back, it's usually a hormonal issue when women grow hair in the chin. Also, wax will make things worse :-( hair will grow stronger and thicker.

She needs either electrolysis or laser hair removal treatments.
