I was told in school that Esti's are NOT licensed to do brow and lash tinting and that only cosmetologists were licensed to do so.  Does anyone know the current "rule" or law in California?

As far as I know that rule still applies.

Yes that rule does apply in California...but it is one of those grey areas where Esthy's still do it, if they have a Cosmetologist working there also.  It is also one of those topics that if you addressed the state board with it...they give you a vague answer.  I have attended a few schools in California as an educator and they do teach the girls how to do it (brow tint, not so much lash) (for their personal use!!) lol.

Thank you for your responses.  I do work alongside multiple cosmetologists and most often they perform the brow tints but another esthetician performs the brow and lash tinting.  I would like to offer that service and want to make sure I'm not endangering my license.

If they came in and saw you doing it or saw the product at your station the worst that would happen for your first offense is a fine....make sure you do it in the afternoon if you are to do one.  A very dear friend of mine was a state board inspector and she told me, they only do visits in the a.m!  How strange is that!???  This was a Cali inspector!    You didn't hear that from me! ;)

I don't know about California but I do know here in Texas Esti's are licensed to do brow and lash tinting...its something to really look into...
