I purchased a steamer last year that you can use tap water with it instead of distilled.  It seems to have died on me and so now I am researching a new steamer.  I'd like to have the next one I buy last a little longer.

I loved not having to worry about having distilled water but the quality of the steamer wasn't that great, which is why it is no surprise that it has stopped working....a month past the expiration date.

Please list your tried and true steamers, would love to hear what you have in your space.

Thanks!

I think it all depends on your tap water. I never use my tap water, in any kind of appliance regardless of what it says, because I have spoiled irons etc over the years. I've had pretty good luck filtering though, in some things that suggest tap. My water just has too much stuff in it and builds up. My steamer is just a cheapie, but had so much to buy at the end of school. I do not use it alot, a few times a week. So, maybe why mine hasn't broken down.

I would also like some information on favorite steamers. Mostly reliable ones! They are tricky little suckers!

I used to use this one and i liked it.    Admittedly I didn't use it a lot as i mainly wax...but when i did use it, it never let me down!

i only use hot towels from a crock pot or towel warmer. hot towels are better for sensitive, dry and rosacea skin. clients might like steam but it's really not good for the skin. i got my crockpot at walmart for 10 bucks!
