Hi Texas Estys! I'm heading to your beautiful State in September to give a Shelley's Show & Tell workshop. I'm teaming up with BioKosmetik. It's goign to be a fun and iformative day. I would love to see some of you there! Here's all the details: http://www.shelleyhancock.com/workshops.html
I am going to be moving to Austin next year. I am a newly licensed Master Esthetician in VA. I learned that I need to take the stateboard exam in Texas. I am looking to get into a plastic surgeon office and i have a medical background (not nurse). I have taken a laser hair removal class in VA as well. I wanted to verify that I can do laser hair removal, injections, etc with training from a physician and under them. I was told by another person to look at a texas laser institute. I wasn’t sure if that would be recommend before looking for a job. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
Hi Texas Estheticians, can anyone give me more information on having mobile spa practice doing facials massages foot and hand spa treatment (not mani/pedis).
Do you know anyone who has done or is doing it? in DFW? thank you!
Hello TE's! I am moving to El Paso in August! Any advice on what to do when I get there. I am worried I might have to go back to school. Texas training hours are about 120-150 hours more than ours here in California. Hopefully, my working hours will count. Has anyone transplanted to Texas? Is the re-licensing for there difficult? I am also considering converting my garage into my salon....any ideas on that??? Thanks all.
The LivingSocial deal expired a week ago. Sold 82, 50 redeemed....of the 50, 8 rebooked and 4 have already been in twice and 2 referrals coming in next week. This will help as we go into the slow summer.
@Ruby-the Groupon No Show policy may void the entire amount-I charge for the service requested- whatever that is - not a flat rate. The company where I rent space sells Gift Certificates and that is also their policy, so whoever the appointment is made with get the money, also subject to losing it w/out 48 hour cancellation (of course their are times when a true emergency happens then that's different).
Thanks, Ivana. I will look into Alicanto.com for future promotions. I called her but had to leave a message....advised the Groupon could be used a the coupon on the service the deal was for and that she had a $50 no show fee due because she no showed on her reservation in March 2012. Asked her to return my call, but no call from her yet.
@Nikki....I really didn't have a lot of problem clients. Retained 10 that purchased the groupon. I look at Groupon, Living Social, Urban Delight as advertisting/marketing agencies. Currently I cannot afford to come out of pocket to pay an agency to help with my marketing and advertisting even though that was my previous career....still need help. I agree, our services are valuable and I haven't discounted any service that I lost money on....the margin may not be 45-50%, but I haven't lost.
As for the Deal coupons, I stop doing those a year or so ago. Too many problem clients. Not exactly the kind of clients that will commit and they will not pay full price for anything. They are just deal-bargain hunters.
I feel that our services are too valuable for that deep of discounts.
