I have battled my skin for many many many years! When I was small I got a few bad sunburns then as I became a teenager and had not only hormonal breakouts but the deep cycstic acne that was a result of an undiagnosed food allergy and Celiac's Disease. As I got older and older The acne became worse even after trying many different acne products, dermatologists, and chemical peels. My face then became red ALL the time and I had large pores, cycstic acne, and hormonal discoloration. I spent thousands and thousands on my skin. I tried everything or so I thought.
But I bought an interesting book called "Facelift at your Fingertips" and treated my mom's skin with it's recipes and massages.
Her skin glowed.
Soooo....I thought, why not try it on me? I used their acne recipe and acne massage and at the same time became diagnosed with an allergy to milk.
Within a week using this massage and OIL, my skin cleared up and was GLOWING!!!! Everybody was asking me what I was using. They were horrified when I said it was Safflower Oil. To this day, my skin gets pink but is no longer red all the time, my skin breaks out but only that time of the month, and all because of a little safflower oil and tea tree eo and lavender eo. Hmmm....

Lori- I have a fellow edgy that I worked with that didn't talk to her clients. Ever. She never got return clients. I don't know about not knowing ingredients. Oh my gosh!!! It's what I do!!!!
My scrub recipe:
1/2 cup of oil
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup of peach nectar
1 tablespoon almond extract
Juice from one squeezed grape.
Amen to your victory. I can relate to having to find the right technique to my problem. Congrats. I'm a fan of essential oils.
Aww thank you for the reciepe and yes I do want the scrub receipe!!! As I just started in a new spa and they only carry 1 skin care line and I am just learning it/working with it so I have my tried and true staples I like and have been bringing some of my own products and perhaps I shared too much info with them of my secrets and tricks and I've done tons of research and trying out different things and I should be careful as I want clients to ask for me!! lol It seems 2 esty's there don't even know half the the ingredients in the products (??? like how would they know if they can use a product when a client says they have sensitivity or allergy?? WOW!!! they do ZERO research. I dont even think they even know what the hell they are doing ) I added 2 drops lavender oil.. 1drop absoulte rose oil and some botanical mix spray (1 squirt) to each towel in towel warmer and I use a special essential oil blend for my hand and foot massage (smells like grapes all natural) and she came in my room and said OMG, your room smells amazing!!! What do you have in your bag? lol I let her look in my bag. I should be so open with my secrets I've worked so hard and those 2 girls make no effort to learn anything new. and HAHAHA orange/blue skin lol no wonder I dont see those ingredients. I always do a ton of research first, I'm sure I would of eventually found out why vitamin K and silver are rarely used. lol but thank you for the tip!!! That is too funny!!
Here's the procedure and I think that was also important:
Apply oil to a dry face
Massage one minute
Remove excess with a warm, damp, washcloth
Massage a little more of the oil in any areas that feel dry.
That's it.
Vitamin K is what's in Carrot Oil, which is why it's so good for the skin! I agree! Vitamin K is great but carrot oil, when used too much can actually tinge the skin orange! Hahaha! I use Safflower because it has a less greasy feel and it's very high in an essential fatty acid lineoliec. (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong). Vitamin K can be phototoxic in sunlight so be careful with it! I read somewhere, years ago that incorporating too many items into an holistic blend can actually decrease the effectiveness. So I started with 1 cup of safflower (actually I think I used olive because it's what I had in my closet) with 4 drops of lavender and 1 drop of tea tree and 1 or 2 drops of sandalwood. This helped my skin. The recipe also calls for the juice of one grape. I don't think I did that. Becareful with silver too because it can turn the skin blue PERMANTLY! haha! I think we as Esty's sometimes get lost in the sales and don't really get the frustration of trying everything. I have tried it all. I have noticed that I do have severely reactive skin.
Oh! and I used a rosewater toner afterwards. It smelled sooooo good! YUM!
I also have the BEST homemade scrub recipe! Let me know if you want it. Everybody asks me for it but I don't give it out to clients because I want them to come back! :D
Oooo another ingredient I do see very often either that is essential to the skin is Vitamin K. I know it is expensive but I do not understand why is it rarely used when our skin benefits so much from it??? Strange but true.
Thank you for sharing that, I too have had hormonal (thyroid issues the doctors will not help me out with they say not bad enough?? watever) It has helped me understand the frustration that some of my clients go through trying product after product when in fact the cause is not oiliness and others keep trying to give them facials or products that are for acneic or oily skin. Finding the balance of incorporating calming/soothing & hydration with peels/exfoliation and cleansing products and routines...... is actually key to their healing and breakouts. Could you share the receipe?? I would probably add rose and green tea extract and possibly replace the safflower with carot/grapeseed oil as the main base. carrot oil is very healing to inflammed/burned skin. Silver is very healing as well and I am quite surprised I do not see that ingredient very often... I am in the process of checking out that ingredient and doing research as to why it should/or why it is not used to treat inflammed skin... I know it is effective used topically on other areas of the body ....
