Hello!
I am just getting enrolled in an Esthetician program and I'm looking to start researching! My hope is to specialize in acne treatment and/or work in a medical facility. Does anyone have any books/websites references they could give? I'm looking for the following things...
Anything related to skin care that you've loved
The best ingredients dictionary
Skin types and best ways of treating them
There is sooo much out there and I really want to know what others have liked and used in the past.
Thanks!!
Brittany
I started school in March this helped me a little for terms.

Online you can enroll in college library and other peer review medical journals that will help you with exactly the type of medical 'Acne' research you are looking for. But I would like to add that until you have learned 'Really' how the skin functions then all the reading in the world will not help you.
Research this: What happens when a cell moves up toward the SC and still contains its nucleus. And also research the hair follicle and the skin cells that are inside it and how and when acne actually starts. Research the water content of the different layers of the skin and what happens (TEWL) when the enzymes within the skin do not have enough water.
This is just a start but I never read 'Milady' or the top skin care books that are in the schools or at skin care shows. I looked at them and found them to be a little weak on technical details so I stayed away from them and went toward the medical books and medical journal literature. Search the colleges...
My best learning came from Columbia, UCLA, USC and of course Harvard Medical. They all have online libraries for research and most are written by Dr.s and go way way back. Also go outside the US. Outside the US is a wealth of detailed information. Hope this helps.
Lastly and the MOST important: GO BACK 10 YEARS OR MORE :))
