The bt visor is an improvement for me; I don't know of anything better. I'd love to hear if anyone does have a better option! What do you dislike about the bt visor, Heather?

I use the bt visor also.  I like it.  I originally started w/o a mag light nor a steamer.  I currently have both but find I still use the bt visor.  I don't use a steamer much, but the table top ones are pretty good for starting out.  I have used one, but don't have one.  There are the glasses that are used for eyelash extensions.  I can't comment on how comfortable they are though.

Also just to add for anyone else that reads the post and is looking for equipment.  I have noticed these new portable towel steamers and they are like $100.  They are nice because they are small and you can take them mobil. I thought about purchasing one until I was about to throw out my vegetable steamer and noticed it was the same exact thing.  I paid $20 for the vegetable steamer and the nicer ones are about $30.

Stephanie....the vegetable steamer is a great idea....I also use a crock pot for towels when I'm mobile.

I just purchased a pair of glasses that has interchangeable magnifying lenses on Amazon.  I think it was about $20 tops?  There are 5 different magnifications I believe.  I had an original pair as that is how I learned in school but the nose piece broke off.  I superglued them but they broke again!  I have a mag light and steamer attached to my MicroDerm/multi-purpose machine but I never use the magnifying glass--the light, yes, but I would need to have the magnifying plate nearly touching their face in order for me to perform extractions, and that's not realistic!  So I like to have the light overhead and the glasses on my face!  

Am I totally weird?!

Where did you purchase your visor? What brand? What's the magnifications you recommend? I need it for body waxing, as well as close up for facials too.

By the way, I have microwaved my wet towels for a few minutes and carried them mobile in an insulated cooler (the kind that are designed for soda or beer!).  That is how I do my mobile spa parties!

Emilie, you are not weird! Very early in my career, the mag lens was close to my client's face for extraction, as you described, and the lens was not in good repair. It slipped and lightly bonked my client in the forehead. I was mortified. This was in a hotel spa where I worked for a while. Ever since then, I've kept a pair of plain mag glasses, like they sell to anyone doing close up crafts, and put the mag light up higher, over my head, not my client's face. That's what I use when I am working for someone else. In my private practice I use my bt visor.
