Esthetic news... What's new in the industry today

The Esthetic world is constantly changing and it can be somewhat difficult to keep up with the latest ingredient, product, buzz word, treatment, etc. It is especially difficult for us "newbies" that really don't know where to turn or what is the best source of information as there is a plethora out there.  I felt this group would be a great place where other Estheticians could share information about what they heard or interesting articles they read as some of us may have missed it.

Feel free to use this group to share anything you feel important whether it's about a new ingredient, or what is hot on the market right now, or even if you just had great results with a new product or a new treatment. This group is a great way to share and keep all of the information in one place to refer back to on a regular basis.

Thank you and happy sharing!!

Hi Everyone,

I would like to tell everyone about something NEW and EXCITING....         The first EVER National Skin Care competition for skin care professionals.

This competition is groundbreaking in that there has never been a showcase for the skilled estheticians before—  An industry that makes the entire population comfortable in their skin deserves a celebration!

The Skin Games offers a prize platform for the best estheticians competing in a variety of skincare categories such as hyperpigmentation, acne, or anti-aging. The benefit of promoting their video entry online is that everyone who follows our games or our followers will have access to their service menu. We will cross promote each and every contestant. We will cross promote each and every sponsor and judge. Everyone is networking and trying to grow their businesses so we created a fun platform to work together. Through voting processes and a judging ceremony, in the form of a LIVE SHOW, our network of targeted skincare professionals is huge and influential to the success of your business.

Successful cross-promotion happens when business professionals of all industries work together for the greater good of the industry. We are not choosing brands or names, we are promoting success and education.

Our panel of TOP NOTCH judges bring loads of mentoring and networking connections to the table where budding estheticians and those wanting to grow their businesses can learn and show off their new skills. The competition is about building confidence, skill, and appointment books! Denise Gaston, Rebecca Gadberry, Susanne Warfield, Denise Fuller, Pearl Dworkin, Bella Schneider, and Kyoto Getz are the named judges, and we have one SURPRISE judge to be announced.

The live show will be co-hosted by Bobbie Brown and Athena Kottak from the television show, “The Ex-Wives of Rock.”  To be held Spring 2016 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Let's make History! Register to Win THE SKIN GAMES!

Hi! My name is Linda and I just joined the group.  I am in the process of starting my own mobile business as an Esthetician and Massage Therapist.  There was thinking of having my own product line and spoke with YG Laboratories and wondered if any one here uses or had any information on them.  Are there any other products you would recommend?  Thank you

Mine is part of an 11-1 facial machine so I am not aware of a single one.  I think they probably all have their issues.  You would think that this equipment woulod be made better.  Mine is from LCL beauty and does the job I need it to but it's kinda eeehh too.

Looking for a New Mag light with stand any recommendations?

Has anyone seen this Stages of Beauty line that has different lines based on age?  If so, any thoughts?  It contains Monks pepper berry.

Monk’s pepper berry comes from a small, shrub-like tree native to the Mediterranean, but don’t let its unassuming appearance fool you—it is packed with beneficial antioxidants that can help eliminate harmful free radicals from your skin.

Sheila- I have FB, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. I am only good with FB and just starting to understand Pinterest. I write a blog though and every time I post, it sends it to FB, Twitter and LinkedIn (and also my website). This keeps me active and "out there" in the internet world.

I also have my information on every search engine type place possible. My brother works in the internet marketing and he has helped me with this stuff. He doesn't do it for me (unfortunately) but he has explained to me the importance of a presence on the internet. The more your out there, the more your name can come up. So even though I don't really get Twitter, it still looks like I tweet frequently enough.

I'm also on Yelp! That is where I get 80% of my clients. I have great reviews from my amazing clients.

Any chance you get to be on a site, you should be. And by the way, all this stuff I just mentioned above, is free. It has taken me a lot of time but not money.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the info ladies!  OOHh what celebs will I follow :).

Laura, thank you!  I am also going to get your Acne certification too (possibly a Christmas present to myself :) ).

@Sheila - of COURSE you can join my groups silly girl!  For Real Solutions for Acne, you can join automatically - it's an open group.  For Acne Specialists, just apply to join and then I "approve" you.  It is for licensed pros only to keep out all the MLMers.

Sheila, yes you can have people all over the world following you but you can block them at anytime if you don't want them following you.  It's easy!  You will get notified when someone follows you then you can chose to block them or do nothing and they will see your posts.  You can also follow anybody you would like, such as celebrities (!), or other skin care companies, etc.  Just be careful of who you let follow you (read their description of their bio) and look at their names, etc.   Sometimes you'll get some very inappropriate tweets!  But then you can just block or report them.  If you join Twitter, find/follow me!  I will follow you back :)
