My first experience with LED was way back in 2003. It's kind of a funny story and I think I'll make a video and put on my website! Revitalight was my first machine. I got some great results, but after a while I couldn't handle sitting there for as…Continue

Help! I scratched client with dermafile! 31 Replies

I tried the dermafile on a client, while she was steaming with a SS enyme masque yesterday, and she had a large, round scar on her lower cheek that she was concerned about. She wrote me today and said this: "scratched an area in a line under where…Continue

Shelley, which would you start with, dermaplanes or ultrasonic spatula?

Hi Gina....well, things were very different when I started many years ago. We didn't have cell phones that we carried with us so that we could answer our calls from anywhere. Back then I felt that I needed to be there if and when the phone rang. It's aways nice to hear a real voice. Also there is something about your energy being there in the office...it's like you're saying "I'm here and ready for business".  But we all have busy schedules with kids, etc. so it's not so easy to be present all of the time. if your hours were the same as the Chiro's, I'd say be there as much as possible but that's not the case. One thing I know for sure....if you're not there at your office, check your messages regularly and return phone calls right away. This is very important, clients really appreciate it and it establishs trust and credibility. Hope this helps!!!!

Shelley- I read your article about law of attraction... you said when you started out you would go into your center every day regardless of appt's... I am in a tiny space inside a chiro's office- by appointment only. My hours are opposite the chiro's b/c of the arrangement of the rooms, etc. so I was able to create a 4-day week for myself (W 10-3, TH 1-7, F 10-3, Sat 1-5) where I am taking appt's. Usually there is no one else in the office during those times unless the massage therapist has clients. No front desk receptionist or anything (she is an employee of the chiropractor).

Should I be in there on those days regardless of appointments? I hadn't planned to take walk-ins, again b/c of the arrangement.

It's a little bit of an odd arrangement..... but it's what I've got! haha

I guess I'm not sure the best way to work the situation. I'd love your input.

Thanks Shelley!

On-site training sounds expensive...:)

I don't think that we should have to pay an arm and a leg for good microcurrent either!  I've used a few devices already and the technology can't be that complicated. Pricing is all over the place - I want results, but the cost of some of the big names is staggering! And for the type of treatment and type of results I can't justify that cost.  And the training manuals for the devices are pretty lame - for the one I purchased myself I expected it to be much more thorough (maybe if it's knock-off from china or something, but mine isn't).

HI Cindy...Yes, you definitely need the Radiancy :) but you also need microcurrent. They are two different modalities. I'm having conversations today with two different microcurrent companies. One here in the States and the other comes from Canada. I have high hopes that one of these will be just perfect. The one made here in the States comes to your facility to do a two day training...included in the price! I like that. I don't think we should have to pay an arm and a leg for a good microcurrent machine or spend a month learning how to use it. I'll write more soon!

Shelley - I am still on the lookout for a reasonably priced microcurrent unit, it doesn't sound like the ERL would be a good match for me.  I have the CompuLift - but not getting the results I was looking for following their protocol.  (sigh) I know, I know - I should just save up for the Radiancy FSD

I have some updated thoughts to share with you on this new ERL machine. In an earlier post I stated that it wouldn't be a first piece of equipment and I definitely want to say now, definitely not a first microcurrent machine. You need to be very seasoned with microcurrent to perform this treatment. It quite complex. My gals here that work for me (and me too), have decided that it's not for us. It's an intense hands-on treatment, which is fine for someone looking for that type of treatment.....we're not! Dr. Starwyn is very knowlegable about microcurrent and LED light therapy, so for the right Esty, this equipment is a dream!

So, I'm on the hunt for a quality simple microcurrent machine that's reasonably priced. I tend to shy away from the big name manufacturers and want to support the smaller companies. I want to try and stay away from overseas equipment..too many knock-offs from them! I'm very open to suggestions!

I will be at the San Jose Face and Body Show in a couple of weeks. Come visit me in booth 533!!
