Or actually just a little more than a year! Time DOES fly when you’re busy and having fun! When we started this online community in January 2011, of course we hoped it would be popular and useful to esties from all over the country, but it is still so exciting to see more than 3,000 people enjoying the forum. And even some from outside the USA.
I love to see all the great discussions, questions, answers, and the other ways you are helping each other succeed, and the…

Does your Salon or Spa offer them to clients? Rewards programs are a great way to keep your clients happy and get's them talking about your place to other people. Some people are so busy focusing on getting new clients that they forget their existing ones. So try a couple of reward programs to see what works best for you.
Before your clients leave, tell…

Hello fellow pros! Can someone help me understand the way spf actually works such as is the number on the bottle what actually goes on your skin or is the contents of the bottle. I have several clients probing this topic and not quite sure how to answer it. Thanks!!=)
How is your Salon business doing right now? Do you feel that your team are constantly cat fighting and causing more drama than reality t.v could ever bring to your t.v screen? Have you noticed the client retention rate is a big issue? I have worked in several salons over the years and luckily 98% of the ones I worked at were great and pretty harmonious (as much as it can be in a predominantly female environment) but the 2% that caused me discomfort have become etched in my brain…

I am heading back home to London in a few weeks and i have been asked by a company out there to do some research for them in regards to the U.S market. They are thinking of bringing their copyrighted products over to the states ... but prior to any big shipments being made they/I are looking for an overall consensus of opinion.
They have posters for the room (to help hide any of those botched wallpaper blunders!) and they also have client consultation forms for waxing and after care…

Never double dip! By this I mean that if you have stuck the spatula into the wax pot, then applied it to the area/skin to be waxed, the stick should be thrown away in the trash can immediately. Imagine waxing every client with just one stick and you kept double dipping? The tin of wax would have traces of blood, pubic hair, and feces (especially if the client didn’t clean up properly!!) It would be a breeding ground for bacteria, which is extremely unsanitary and not fair on the…

I am a cosmetologist but working in a spa as a esthetician. (i give up on hair). I love what i do, only its my first actual independent contracting job. I had to invest in all my own equipment and everything. I have yet to find the right product to offer my clients for the facial and for retail. I want to find something that 1. Is not gonna burn another h*** in my pocket, 2.…

Hi…In your opinion(s) what’s a great cost effective and great working skincare line to begin a small business i.e. treatment room? I’m looking for a skincare company that does not require a large start up fee and/or an extremely expensive minimal order requirement. Thanks!

I'm super excited to say that I am getting to take over as the sole distributor in the U.S for the Dermafiles!! I love these little tools. They are affordable and effective. I would love to see esthetic schools use them and offer them to their students. Anyone just getting started that doesn't have the budget for a microderm machine should have a set of these. Anyone bored with microderm but needs something good for exfoliation should have a set of these. Even if you have microderm, there…
