Protect your skin and eyes from UV A & B

One way to avoid too much sun exposure is to stay out of the sun between the hours of 11am and 3pm. The UV rays are the strongest between these times. If  you need to be outside, be sure to use a sunscreen with a 30 SPF (sun protection factor). And of course, wear your eyeglasses to protect your eyes! You will be glad you did as older age approaches.

Summer time....

Oh, how I love the summer. The long days, warm nights... and lots of sunshine.

This blond girl enjoys the sun on my face (with sun screen, of course), wind in my hair and lots of ice cream & Mint Juleps!

So bring it on mother nature, I'm ready, willing and waiting for you.

Your sole-full, fun loving ray of sunshine,

S~

You could be having a great day. You’re running right on time. Clients are over complimenting you at the front desk. There’s a four-inch stack of gratuities in the drawer. And then… hold the phone, kids:

An eighty-year old client staggers out into the lobby, naked from the waist down.  He wants to know why there aren’t any robes left in the dressing room and he doesn’t care who hears him.  Trouble is, it’s not what they’re hearing, it’s what they’re seeing, and that…

Can anyone share their experience with a good quality professional Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber? I have had a Skinmate  which has served me well, but it was purchased years ago and it's time for a new one.

I have tried the Skin Spatula with 6PZT ceramic crystals in the hand-piece, but clients has not enjoyed the high pitch sounds and it get too hot to use for extractions. I have also tried the small cordless 2PZT unit and that works fine for the extractions, but I would like all features…

Thank you, Mom!

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and it’s likely that quite a few of us will either be spending time with our mother, or will be thinking about a memory from the past involving her. I just want to share one very important lesson I learned from my mother, although it was much later in life that I actually appreciated it!

My mother was a very fair-skinned Swede, and although she enjoyed the great outdoors, she usually headed for the nearest shade tree when possible. She also wore…

More Ranting from The Beauty Highway; Clients who approach us outside the office for advice.

Are We Truly Healers?

I’m one of those estheticians that got into the business because I have a passion for skin care and I love taking care of people. However, whatever you do, please do not approach me at a party and lead me into the kitchen to take a look at a growth on your husband’s back. Really. What do you expect me to do? Sterilize the area with a cosmopolitan and throw on a pair of rubber maids?

I wouldn’t dream of tapping my dentist on…

Knicker Stickers for bikini waxing clients!!

Ingrown hairs around the bikini area as most of us know are caused by incorrect waxing, shaving and irritation/rubbing that clothing or our underwear can cause.   There are many more factors, but I would love to share with you a secret solution (not that it will be a secret anymore!) that I highly recommend for you to retail in your salon and to also use as a take home pressie for your first time clients that might be susceptible to getting ingrown hairs. This company…
