Has anyone heard or experienced Acupunture facials?
I am also looking for some good books for training new esthetician/cosmetologist that wants to move into skin care.
Also, I am looking for a good product line, preferably private label, any advice?
Thank you!

Is anyone working or has worked with a plastic surgeon? If so, can you please give me some feedback about whether or not it's a good situation for you? I currently rent a room at a cute salon and was interviewed to work out of a plastic surgeon's office. He hasn't given me the commission splits yet, so I haven't made a decision as to whether or not it's a good career move. If anyone has any feedback about this, it will be much appreciated!

I know in the past this has been posted but no one comments on it. I've been and Esthetician for over 3 years now and I've worked at spa's and used the crystal machines but never the Diamond my concerns are the negtive reviews about crystals and I've notice alot of companys are switching over to organic grains, baking power or walnuts. Being that said I've reserched and those machines are not cheap yikes. I do have the derma files and ultra spatula hand held but was thinking of buying a…

There is hope, don't worry. Sun damage is actually one of the more easy conditions to treat. Unlike melasma or pigmented acne scarring, sun damage can be controlled and lifted to the surface with either a laser or a chemical agent. However it must be treated with CAUTION! There are these things called melanocytes in your skin that give it it's color, but they get excited when there's anything administered topically to the…

Hello, I am a new esthetician starting out. What are reasonable prices to start off with for services. I want to be able to get clientele and then gradually move prices up.
Any suggestions?

Recently we participated in an interesting conversation about mobile spas. Everything is going mobile so why not spas?
However, there is a lot to consider before opening up your own mobile spa or salon.
Many states prohibit cosmetologists, estheticians and nail technicians from performing services outside of a licensed place of business. So check the rules with your local laws for mobile spa services and check the spa…

It can be time consuming when spending a moment to assess the needs of your client. A good procedure to begin with is have the client fill out a consultation form- this can be done on the first visit and review or revise it on each visit there after. Your clients will see you in a more professional light. This will also help with the services provided on the last visit. Be sure to take time in accessing the skin, ie. forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, eyelids, lips, ears, neck and chest- for…
